Corruption in hospitals in Mallorca

Corruption in hospitals in Mallorca. In more than 10 years of work as a doctor and as a coordinator for insurance companies, I have accumulated a lot of experience with different doctors and hospitals. Beginning a series of articles on hospitals, starting with Mallorca. Of the large private hospitals, I can single out three - the first and second in Palma and the third in the east of the island. And the state hospital Son Espases. Each of the private hospitals has its own outpatient network of doctors who visit your home / hotel. In 2012-2014, we collaborated with private hospitals and their doctors, as we wanted to guarantee the maximum quality of treatment for our patients and insurance companies. But in recent years, we have become convinced that the best is the State University Hospital Son Espases. Why did we stop working with private hospitals? Reasons: fake diagnoses, unjustified and prolonged hospitalizations, inflated bills. There was a case when a doctor in the east of Mallorca (Cuban by origin) intimidated our patient who had a hematoma on his leg after playing football - with thrombosis and the development of arrhythmias and death. We activated the insurance, the patient was taken by ambulance to the intensive care unit of one of the private hospitals. As a result, the diagnosis after discharge is a panic attack. The insurance check was obscenely high! The Cuban doctor probably got his thirty pieces of silver. It happened that another of the private hospitals treated our patient with a cerebral stroke, but when the insurance limit of 30,000 euros was exhausted, our patient was simply kicked out of the hospital - they called 112 and he continued treatment at the state hospital Son Espases! Well, more often than not, we were billed overstated. So, for example, in one of the above hospitals, we were billed for a standard operation to reposition a leg fracture, which amounted to 25,000 euros, with an average cost in the Andorran hospital of 5,000 euros. We conducted an investigation, it turned out that the hospital used a corruption scheme when reselling orthopedic materials for the operation. By the way, it was the factor of corruption in private medicine in Spain that prompted me to create my own medical network with high-quality and transparent principles in work. It is for this reason that we work with government hospitals.

Surprisingly, tourists from mainland Europe rarely have similar symptoms. Of course, there are explanations for this -... Read →
